MCF member Nexus Community Partners is now seeking nominations for its inaugural Boards and Commissions Leadership Institute class.
BCLI will train community members and leaders from communities of color and other underrepresented communities to serve on decision-making bodies. By doing so, it will build a progressive network of decision makers and advocates working for more equitable policies on key issues affecting the lives of people of color and other underrepresented communities in the Twin Cities region.
Ten cohort members will engage in a rich, 80-hour training and networking program, meeting face to face and completing online assignments from October through April, using a professional development model that includes:
- Honing skills for commission effectiveness
- Deepening knowledge of core regional and local planning issues
- Comprehending and integrating an equity lens on issues
- Understanding power dynamics of regional and local governments
Nominations are due August 2. Visit the Nexus Community Partners website to learn more about the Institute and download a nominations packet.
