The Atlantic Philanthropies recently released a new publication titled Investing in Change: Why Supporting Advocacy Makes Sense for Foundations.
The report describes various forms of philanthropy that a foundation can support, including commissioning research, policy development and community organizing. Drawing on the work of Atlantic Philanthropies and other national and international grantmakers, it identifies a number of key questions for funders and potential funders to consider before investing in advocacy.
If you already fund advocacy programs or are considering this as a priority area for your foundation, I would encourage you to review this report. Also, check back often and click on the public policy category. I will be uploading resources and other tools around advocacy and public policy as they become available.
Join the conversation: Does your foundation fund advocacy programs? If so, please share your stories and examples of why funding adocacy is important to your foundation.
