Minnesota Adopts Model Charitable Endowment and Investment Law

Minnesota CapitolMinnesota Governor Tim Pawlenty signed the Uniform Prudent Management of Institutional Funds Act (UPMIFA) into law on April 10, allowing more flexibility in endowment spending policies for charitable organizations. The law will take effect on August 1 and replaces Minnesota’s Uniform Management of Institutional Funds Act that has been in place since 1973.
